I met Devon on a plane ride from Detroit to Denver. We probably talked for 2-3 hours straight. She is a philosophy major so we got into some nitty gritty topics about philosophy and life. It was a wonderful wonderful conversation. She was in Michigan visiting her friends that she met at university. Her friends are now living in Detroit. They sound like super super awesome people. I’ll probably meet them someday.
The entire conversation started over me asking about the book she was reading. The Omnivores Dilemma. I asked her about it and the 2-3 hour conversation started from there. Everything from family to car crashes to religion. Everything! It was freaking awesome!
She does some awesome artwork. I can’t remember exactly what the name of the art is called but it has to do with acid, copper, wax, and paper. Acid is used to burn up patterns in copper which is then dipped in wax I believe and then some how used to print to paper. I can’t remember exactly how it worked but it was fucking awesome. She had some cool prints with her that she showed me as well.
Here’s a link to her work http://devonreneeplopper.tumblr.com/
My mouth was also extremely dry because we talked so much. The airline only offered water once.
I felt like this half way into the conversation.
